Who is a coach? How do the services of a coach differ from psychotherapy, supervision, training and mentoring?

It is useful to use the training programs when you do not know where to go and what to do. When a person can not decide what is primary and what is secondary.
   • During this period of life no training will give a person proper motivation or necessary knowledge. And how to get them if you do not know what you need?
   • How to find the problem by hiring a supervision specialist, if there are no clear goals? That’s because what seems a problem in one situation may benefit in another.
   • Why go to a therapist, when it is important not to have awareness of the past but to move into the future?
   • And, finally, how can a mentor help a person who is so good at his own professional competencies?

What coaching for CEO can give you personally?

It’s exactly the CEO who has the greatest range of opinions on what training for executives is. Basically it’s about solving individual problems and optimizing management activity within the concept of “sovereignty (independence) of the head of the company”.
Independence – a quality, clearly perceived by a subject and by other people. If you, as a manager or a solo proprietor, feel sovereignty (independence) of your actions, then your employees, customers and partners also perceive you as an independent person.

Independence means …

Well, let’s try to define it by its objective facts. You make decisions clearly and without delay. You acknowledge your mistakes and are ready to take responsibility for them. You are open to dialogue and your actions and relationships are clear. More than 70 percent of employees think these are the characteristics of an independent manager.

More independence through coaching?

A personal coaching will develop and strengthen your independence as an executive through various methods:

01

You will know the concept of independence better and get a 100% clear view what it means for you;

02

You will know exactly what people and your employees understand under management work, how you respond to your employees’ views and apply it to your personal features;

03

You will get familiar with psychological mechanisms of independent thinking, decision-making, action and apply it to yourself;

04

You will make changes in your life that will promote the independence of your life and business.

Our understanding of coaching

Doing professional coaching in business, we help our customers to discover new perspectives, identify personal goals, make decisions and develop alternative behaviors.
The basis of our work is the order and target of clients. Our methods and techniques are evaluative. This means in particular that we consider a client as an expert in his professional field, and us – experts in coaching.
Our work is focused on the search of the resources, decision-making and the future of clients. We believe that every person has all the resources needed to achieve his objectives. Coaching facilitates the access to these resources. We are more focused on solving the problem than the problem itself. A very important setting here is that everyone ALREADY knows the solution to the problem. A view in the future in coaching gives direction. Coaching deliberately and quickly develops the ability to find solutions.

A coach’s task is to lead a client to understanding and realization what they need at the moment, to push to setting their own goals and move them to the right direction.

OUR ETHICAL PRINCIPLES

Based on the following ethical principles, our staff ensures that during coaching sessions they:
   – tend to act independently and avoid conflicts of interest;
   – have an honest and objective view of themselves, their experience and qualifications. This also applies to the skills and knowledge of third parties, who they recommend to their clients;
   – practise coaching strictly within the limits of their competence and in accordance with the level of their training;
   – always introduce coaching as one of the possibilities and never as the only and exclusive solution to the problem;
   – work with the problem of the client in strict confidence;
   – consider coaching as a professional and effective method, designed to assist individuals and organizations;
   – Seek to mutually acknowledge relevant results of coaching and clients’ expectations;
   – Respect different styles of coaching and approaches of related techniques;
   – Respect value and dignity of a person and a person’s right to self-determination.

How to find a personal coach that is suitable for me?

It’s difficult to answer the question what a “right” coach is, it depends on many factors. A choice of the right coach is very personal, it depends on your criteria and requirements.

You should ask yourself the following questions:

Do you like a coach as a person and as a professional?

Do you trust him?

Do education and coaching techniques correspond to your problems?

Does a coach have empathy without taking your point of view?

What is the usual process of personal coaching?

We conduct personal coaching in Moscow and its regions, having a specific strategy. The process itself is divided into three phases:

Preparation, including acquaintance with a client and the conclusion of the contract (formal and informal).
The goal of the phase for the client is to start to trust the coach, to realize the necessity of the process, to accept oneself with all the strengths and weaknesses, to understand the importance of the recommendation.
After the coach and the client find understanding and “get acquainted”, they conclude a contract which includes:
   • How many coaching sessions must be held (it is determined jointly by the coach and the client);
   • The duration of the first meeting and the frequency of visits of the specialist;
   • How much coaching will last in general;
   • Who is involved in coaching;
   • What is the size of the fee of the coach;
   • How and when the fee will be paid.

In addition, the specialist agrees to keep confidential the fact and details of the cooperation.

Besides the formal conditions, a client must say what he wants to receive as a result, what the purpose of individual coaching is, what topics are not negotiable. The coach, in turn, tells about his terms and possibilities of cooperation.

The main stage of a session. It consists of diagnosis, goals setting and rechecking

   • A client and a coach together define the goal that must be achieved. The coach’s task is to help understand what directions are false and what are true for the client.
   • A coach does not give advice, we direct the thoughts of the client in the right direction. In the process of “working together” clients themselves create a plan for moving to the goal, but the coach only pushes them to make this step and not turn from the path. After all, it’s the motivation that plays an important role in any accomplishment.
   • A specialist does not limit the client in the ways of acquiring what the client wants, we “turn on” them imagination, make them look at things from a different view.
   •Implementation of “micro-tasks” makes a person overcome himself, apply more effort than usual.

At the end of the main phase the client and the coach recheck the selected strategy: what has been achieved? What else should be done? Are there other ways of implementing the plan?

Completion of coaching
When the goal of training is achieved, it is very important to see what has been done, to understand what needs to be done in the future, to fix a new way of thinking, skills and etc.
Some time later, the customer may call a coach at any time to share his success, to determine what can cause difficulties in what follows. This helps to focus on what is desired even more, to support the developed skills.
What is the duration of a training program?

The duration of sessions depends on the complexity of the problems and the needs of the client.

A individual coaching is a very intensive form of coaching that gives good results even for a short period of time. If you need to solve a short-term problem or achieve a certain goal, one or two sessions may be enough.

If we are talking about long-term and systematic work on the problem and stable long-lasting changes, the coaching process can take a long time, up to a year.
Usually coaching should not last more than ten coaching sessions. A session, as a rule, lasts from 60 minutes to four hours.

My boss pays for the services of my coach. What information will he/she receive?

Usually no information. In specific, pre-agreed cases it’s possible to report the management some important information, obtained in the process of the program, anonymously. However, it is discussed with the client in advance and is never done without their awareness.

Some employers require an interview at the end of the coaching process to obtain feedback from the participation of all three parties – the client, the coach and the representative of the company, for example, its head. However, in this situation, a coach keeps confidentiality, according to the agreement with the client and provides the client with the opportunity to decide what aspects of coaching will be discussed.

Can the training take place in my office?

A program can be conducted in your office, if the premises are suitable for this purpose. Of course, transport costs are covered in this case.
Business coaches recommend to conduct sessions in neutral territories, but not in the company, as it helps to get away from “beaten path” and stimulates new perspectives.
Is there any danger that I will be manipulated during a training?

Any act of communication leads to mutual influence of interlocutors. Training is no exception. This is normal and to some extent this is what is needed. A coach’s task is to awaken new processes and views in the client, which he would not achieve on his own. Thus, there is possibility of manipulation in coaching.
An important principle of coaching is the responsibility and independence of the client. The goal of coaching is to make the client find his own solutions and answers. The coach treats his client, his ideas and life plans with respect, without prejudice or self-interest. Whether to apply the newly discovered alternative means of action in practice or not is the decision to be taken only by the client.
What does “systematic training” mean?

Systemic training comes from the fact that people function in certain systems: a family, a company, neighbors, a work team, a sports club and etc. A human behavior affects the system, and the system affects the person.

Systems show boundaries and possibilities of our actions. They have written and unwritten rules and values.

A client is always regarded as an element of its system in systemic training. The unwritten rules of the system and their impact on the client are understood through the use of special techniques, so the client is able to produce systematically approved solutions of the problems.
